"The first five years have so much to do with how the next 80 turn out." - Bill Gates
What are we?
We are an early child development (ECD) school for children aged 3 to 6 years old.
Our language of tuition is IsiXhosa. We also encourage the use of English as a second language.
Our day starts at 7.00am and the children go home at 4.00pm.
We feed breakfast, lunch and snacks.
We provide safe transport to and from school.
We teach using a curriculum accredited by the South African government.
Who are we? Every year we provide education and care for up to 60 children from local communities. Most of the children who attend are from the local Xhosa-speaking community.
We also do....
Occupational therapy We have a dedicated Occupational Therapist – Regina Broener from Creative Works. Regina runs parent workshops and works with our teachers to monitor the children’s development and identify any issues that need special attention.
Digital Our children will compete in the 4th industrial revolution and this means they need to be familiar and comfortable with the advantages and challenges offered by digital technology.
Our school has a digital programme that gives the children the opportunity to experience some of their learning through digital formats. We have access to tablets with some of the latest learning tools for pre-school children.
In addition, our teachers are working with a local non-profit organisation called SHARP Digital, to build their digital literacy skills. Now they too can be part of the digital world.
Where are we? We are based at the Die Kop settlement in Stanford, Western Cape (20 kilometres east of Hermanus).
